Beginning of The Beatles
Johnny & The Moondogs at John´s house
The Silver Beatles in Hamburg
In 55´ John Lennon (*9th October, Liverpool, GB) founded his first music band The Quarrymen. His classmate and best friend Pete Shotton founded this band with him but the head of the band was John. John played the guitar and Pete played the wash-board. Later John added two guys to his band, Nigel Whalley and Ivan Vaughan (they played the homemade bass). Later Nigel and Ivan left the band and Len Garry replace them. In the same time when Len joined the band, Rod Davis and Eric Griffith joined too. Rod Davis played the banjo and Eric Griffith was a guitarist like John.
John called the band Quarrymen because he studied at high school Quarry-Bank.
On the 6th July 57´ John met the young boy at the party in the school garden. His name was Paul McCartney (*18th June, Liverpool, GB) and he was invited by Ivan Vaughan (*18th June, Liverpool, GB). Ivan was a Paul´s friend and classmate but also the ex-member of the Quarrymen and John´s friend. So Ivan introduced Paul to John. After concert John listened to Paul how he played Twenty Flight Rock.
After two days John added Paul to Quarrymen and chuck Pete Shotton out of the band.
In 58´ John and Paul sang like duo The Nerk Twins. But it was only for 2 months because in March 58´ they took fifteen years old boy George Harrison (*25th February, Liverpool, GB) to duo. So they had to change their name. Their new name was Johnny & The Moondogs. But there was one problem, they hadn´t a drummer. So they played sometimes with Paul´s 14 years old brother but later John found a Johnny Hutch.
In 59´ John were at the art school and he had a friend Stuart Sutcliffe (*23rd June, Edinburgh, GB) there. Stu was a very good artist but John added him to Johnny & The Moondogs. Stu couldn´t play any instrument. But John told him that it´s easy.
In 60´ boys changed their name again. From Johnny & The Moondogs to The Silver Beatles and they also changed their drummer. The new drummer was Pete Best (*24th November, Madras, India).
In 61´ they played in the Cavern Club in Liverpool and they also were in Hamburg again. It was a last moment when they saw Stu. Stu unfortunately died on the 10th April 62´ (he was only 21 years old and also engaged with Astrid Kircherr - german photographer). And John renamed band from The Silver Beatles only to The Beatles.
When The Beatles played in Cavern Club they were admired by the music manager Brian Epstein. Brian signed a contract with The Beatles and he became manager of the band.
In 62´ they changed a drummer again. Richard Starkey (Ringo Starr - *7th July, Liverpool, GB) joined the music band and replaced Pete Best.
Sometimes Ringo had problems with a caecum so Paul´s brother Mike or Jimmy Nicol had to replaced him at live concert.
Oh thank you. Now I know everything about beginning of The Beatles. :o)
